How to Fish in Fishing Wars
Spot choice, cargo discipline, and legendary hunts without sinking the boat.
Fishing is the verb on the box, but Fishing Wars punishes people who treat it like a calm simulator. You are on a boat with limited space, on a server with seven other hunters, on a map that spawns pirates and sharks the farther you go. This guide is about what to keep, when to leave, and which water is worth the fuel.
Watch the mid-page video for a level 1 to 15 route that keeps repeating the same ideas: legendary fish, boat space, high-value targets, and aborting a trash inventory. Then come back to the rules.
Mythical spots
Joe sends you to a marked mythical spot in the tutorial. Treat markers as probability, not a boss arena. Early spots teach the cast and the pirate interrupt. Later markers sit closer to deep water where the Kraken warning on the Roblox page becomes real.
How to use a marker:
- Park with an escape heading already pointed at the dock, not at the open ocean.
- Cast a few times. If the bites are all commons and your boat is half full, rotate to another marker instead of hoping the next ping is a Loch Ness.
- If another boat is already camping the marker with a turret, do not share the tile unless you outgun them. Eight-player servers make contested spots normal.
Cargo is the skill
Community speedruns talk about boat space more than about perfect casts. A full boat cannot pick up the fish that would have paid for an aquarium level. Play it like a looter:
- Keep the highest rarity you have seen this trip.
- Dump or skip obvious commons once you have a rare or better.
- Head home when the remaining empty slots are smaller than the next upgrade you want. Sitting for “one more legendary” is how pirates farm you.
If the live build lets you drop a fish overboard, do it. If it does not, you must return and cycle the aquarium instead — which is still better than dying with a full hold.
Rarity bands (launch week)
Steak and community videos confirm a ladder even without a full dex:
- Commons / early fish — tutorial food. Fine for trip one. Wrong to keep once the tank is online.
- Rares / legendaries — the speedrun targets. These pay the pad and justify a longer drive.
- Named myths — Loch Ness (caught in Steak’s leak), Kraken (official description), plus sharks as attackers more than as inventory.
- Display pieces — anything you want to swim up to inside the aquarium. Idle value plus flex.
Until Steak publishes an index, rank with the fish tier list instead of memorizing fan-made Latin names.
Pirates while you cast
The leak is honest: you can be mid-cast when a pirate ship arrives. You have three answers:
- Shoot if a turret or deck gun is mounted and the hull can take a few hits.
- Run if you have speed and cargo worth saving.
- Sink with pride if you stayed too long with no gun. Then buy health and a turret before the next marker.
Pirates are a fishing problem, not a side mode. Plan every cast as if a sail could spawn on your camera. Boats and PvP covers player hunters who do the same job as NPCs, only meaner.
Sharks and deep water
Steak showed a shark attack as you push farther out. The pattern is the same as pirates: the map gets more hostile with distance. Deep water is where mythical creatures and the Kraken live. It is also where a starter hull is a snack. Unlock speed and health first. Then bring a gun. Then go looking for Loch Ness.
Trip templates
Income trip (levels 1–8): nearest mythical marker, two to four keepers, home before the boat looks like a loot pinata. Collect pad. Joe.
Legendary trip (levels 8–15): one extra marker farther out, empty commons first, abort if pirates plus players stack. This is the video’s pace.
Hunt trip (armed boat): deep water, named targets, accept that you might spend the session fighting instead of fishing. Only after the upgrade order says you are allowed.
What not to do
- Do not AFK with a loaded boat on a public marker.
- Do not announce a legendary in chat until it is in the tank.
- Do not skip the collect pad because “you only fished for two minutes.” Idle cash is still cash.
- Do not copy Fisch bait tables. This is a different game with boats and guns.
When the trip is over, the work moves to the tank. Aquarium decides whether that legendary was actually an upgrade.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
Where are the best fishing spots?
Start on Joe's mythical marker. Move farther only after boat speed and health are upgraded. Deep water is for armed hulls.
Why does boat space matter?
A full hold cannot take a legendary. Level 1–15 runs treat cargo like the real skill check.
What is the rarest fish?
Launch footage highlights legendaries, Loch Ness, and the Kraken as peak threats or catches. There is no complete public dex yet.
Should I fight pirates or run?
Fight if you have a turret and hull. Run if the cargo is worth more than the pride. See boats and PvP.
