Fish Tier List

This fish tier list is a cargo and aquarium filter, not a fake pokedex. Fishing Wars launched without a public complete index. Ranks below use rarity bands plus the named creatures Steak and the official page already showed. When a real dex lands, we will name rows. Until then, play the band, not the rumor.

Cross-check with how to fish for trip templates and aquarium for slot rules.

S tier — end the trip for these

Legendary keepers. Community level 1–15 routes exist to chase legendaries. If one bites and you have a common in the last slot, the common is now garbage. Head home after a legendary unless the boat is still empty and the water is quiet.

Loch Ness / Lochness. Steak dropped one in the aquarium on stream. That is the poster keep. Empty the hold for it. Do not chat it until the pad.

Kraken (as a trophy). Official deep-water boss. If the live build lets you extract a piece or a display, it is the top flex in the tank. If it is fight-only, it is still S as a goal, just not as cargo. See Kraken and beasts.

A tier — worth a longer drive

High rares / “something big” mythical-spot bites. Joe’s tutorial marker exists because the glow can roll above-average fish. Stay for a few extra casts if pirates are down and cargo is not full.

Display oddities. Anything that looks unique when you swim inside the tank. Idle value plus flex. If it is merely a recolor of a common, it is not A.

B tier — honest income

Mid fish that fill early slots. Fine while Joe is still selling aquarium level 2. They pay the pad. They should be replaced, not worshipped.

Sharks (if catchable). As enemies they are A-tier problems. As inventory they are only B until we see pad numbers. Do not invent a shark-farm route until you have kept one.

C tier — tutorial food

Commons from trip one. Catch them, drop them, cycle them. A boat full of C-tier is why people fail how to fish cargo checks.

Duplicate commons in the tank. They steal slots from A and S. Joe did not sell you slots so you could run a sardine warehouse.

D tier — traps

Greed casts with a full legendary already on board. The next bite is not a fish. It is a pirate. It is a player. It is a shark. Rank the decision D even if the fish would have been S.

Unconfirmed index names from other games. If someone tells you to farm “Ancient Depth Serpent IV” on day three, they are describing Fisch. Ignore them.

Threat column (not cargo)

Some “fish” are trying to eat the boat:

ThreatRank as dangerNotes
PiratesAFirst exam on mythical spots
SharksAPunish AFK casters farther out
Other playersSEight per server, turrets exist
KrakenSDeep water, official warning

A threat rank of S means you build the boat before you farm the tile. Details on boats and PvP.

How to apply this on one trip

  1. Start accepting C.
  2. As soon as a B lands, stop accepting C.
  3. As soon as an A or S lands, point at the dock.
  4. If a threat S appears, drop the fishing minigame and play the shooter minigame.

That is the whole list in motion. Update your memory after every Steak patch, not after every random Twitter screenshot.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

What is the best fish in Fishing Wars?

Named myths such as Loch Ness and Kraken-class trophies sit at the top. Legendaries are the practical S tier for most trips.

Should I keep common fish?

Only until a better rarity lands. Then cycle them out of the aquarium.

Is the Kraken a fish I can display?

Official copy treats it as a deep-water battle. If a display drop exists, it is S. Confirm in live play before you plan a tank around it.

Why isn't every fish named?

No complete public dex at launch. We refuse to invent names. Bands plus confirmed creatures are safer.
